Nice things on the shelves and nice things planned for the final run up to Christmas, this December, at the Drumanilra Farm Kitchen!
What a year for Drumanilra this has been. We were honoured to win two prestigious awards in 2018, for our efforts to produce and promote local, sustainable and natural foods. We won the Irish Restaurant Awards “Local Food Heroes, Connacht Region” back in the spring, and Georgina Campbell’s nationwide “Natural Food Award” in September this year. Our love of all things local and small-scale is reflected in both our menu and our Christmas Catalogue this year.
You can try the food from our farm by booking with us for an informal, festive, organic, lunch at the Drumanilra Farm Kitchen, between now and Christmas. We are offering two courses for €22.50 and three courses for €27.50. The price includes a complimentary glass of prosecco. Our menu features organic, Bronze Turkey and Ham from Drumanilra Organic Farm, and a fantastic, well-aged, 10 oz organic Angus Striploin Steak from John Cullen’s farm in Frenchpark, both served with locally grown, organic, seasonal, vegetables. Our little farm shop is brimming over with local, artisan and organic ideas for your Christmas feast and for foodie Christmas gifts with a difference.
Our “Dexter Burger in a Box” Hamper, is proving popular this year with everything you need to recreate the award-winning Dexter burger experience at home. Try the Drumanilra Breakfast Box for a St Stephen’s Day brunch to remember. The box features our dry cure rashers and handmade sausages from the farm, as well as Inch House puddings and our freshly baked, brown bread. Or make a gift of an Organic Family Meat Box, perfect for stocking the freezer. We also have organic Dexter steaks and Irish Angus beef roasting joints available, including some fabulous Rib on the Bone Roasts and whole Fillets. Please note that our organic ham and turkeys are sold out now, but we do still have organic goose available to order.
Rosheen has been working round the clock in our little bakery this season, making Mince Pies and organic Christmas Pudding Squares. This year we are also stocking Clo’s delicious Christmas Cakes and Puddings, handmade in her award-winning bakery, Le Fournil, in Sligo.
With a whole range of Irish artisan cheeses, preserves, chocolate and organic smoked salmon also on the shelves, it really is worth calling in to see the full range. And finally, a couple of dates for the diary.
**On Wednesday 12th December, Mo of Hullabaloo will be joining us in the café, during our Family Morning session, from 10-12. She will be on hand to help you make hand and foot casts and prints of your little ones’ fingers and toes. A lovely, personal, Christmas gift idea.
**Wednesday 19th December is our Drumanilra Family Morning Christmas Party. Open to anyone with little ones under 5, we will have cookie decorating, some Christmas themed crafts for the little ones, great coffee, and a visit from Santa!
** Saturday 22nd December is our Turkey Day with your turkey and ham orders ready for collection from this day. We will have mulled wine and mince pies, live Christmas music, and Santa will be popping in for a Ho Ho Ho and a picture or two! We will be collecting for a local charity on the day and will have some great raffle prizes up for grabs!
**If you can’t make it on the 22nd we will also be open on Sunday 23rd from 10 till 4, and Christmas Eve till 2pm.
